So many ill, well-curated, Tumblrs out there (see: Homme). Now to the topic at hand.
Pocket squares can be tricky. The fool-proof method is white cotton/linen, folded square. Makes everything look better. And they are still surprisingly uncommon (at least in my circles…maybe I don’t party enough with the cool kids) so it will draw some positive attention.
But doing the above is where it gets hairy. It’s perfect and I couldn’t put this together (yet). When doing color, the square is supposed to compliment, not match the shirt and/or tie (when it comes to getting dressed, I don’t believe in firm rules, but don’t buy the tie/kerchief set made from the same cloth and don’t try to match colors “close enough”).
I just think successfully pulling off a colorful pocket square is an underrated skill. I have a few, but they are tame: blue, purple and brown in the same conservative plaid pattern.
They’re a good training wheel step to getting on the above guy’s level.
